Southwest Counseling Service’s Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for adolescents 12 to 17 years old who are abusing or are dependent on alcohol or drugs, including marijuana, methamphetamines, cocaine, and prescription medications.
Eligible participants will have the following criteria:
Referrals for the group may be made by Southwest Counseling Service staff, Multi-Disciplinary Teams, Juvenile Probation, Department of Family Services, schools, and parents/guardians.
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program provides substance abuse and mental health services to adolescents in order to lessen symptoms and improve function. The program is an open group structure that the adolescent can enter at any point. The group is designed to be a three- to four-month program depending on the progress of the adolescent.
Adolescents will engage in discussion, group process, experimental activities, monthly individual counseling, and family counseling.
