Early Childhood Intervention
Life Changes
Changes happen all the time. Parents change jobs, families move to different neighborhoods, or a new baby arrives in the family. This program can provide children and families with additional insight and can help your child both emotionally and socially.

The Early Childhood Intervention can help your child: 
  • Adjust to new environments 
  • Adjust to new peers 
  • Handle being away from a caregiver for the first time

Early Childhood Intervention Program
Southwest Counseling Service’s Early Childhood Intervention program is designed to provide mental health services to children in their natural school environment. The program provides: 
  • Classroom interventions by a licensed therapist and a trained case manger
  • Parent / caregiver support and ideas for how to help their child succeed
  • Play therapy and self-esteem play groups 
  • Support and resources for school teachers, aids, and administrators on how to deal with certain emotional, social, or behavioral concerns
  • Support for children ages three years old to six years old who are struggling emotionally or socially

Children may be referred to the program from: 
  • Child Developmental Center recommendation
  • Parental / caregiver concerns
  • Southwest Counseling Service makes referrals from screenings conducted on each child attending Head Start
  • Teacher recommendation
